Coronavirus and Mosquitoes

The virus should be able to be replicated in the gut and salivary glands of the mosquito when it comes to mosquitoes and the spread of diseases. In essence, the mosquito itself must be infected by the virus.

The good news is that the CDC, the WHO and the American Mosquito Control Association (AMCA) all agree that the mosquitoes aren't a vector of the COVID-19 just because they can't get virus infected. Thus, the coronavirus cannot be transmitted to humans by mosquitoes.

COVID-19 is predominantly spread via sneezes, toxins, or contaminating surfaces through airborne droplets. In this example, a disinfection service can support companies by sanitizing touch points, surfaces, equipment and floors to manage the effects of the coronavirus.

But Mosquitoes Can Pose a Threat

As mentioned above, a lockdown procedure has been introduced by many countries throughout the world in order to stop coronavirus spread. Many of us spend time in our gardens more outdoors, enjoy the warm weather and even go for walks as part of our daily workout.

Although the mosquitoes cannot propagate the coronavirus, but can spread several other harmful diseases. Sadly, these biting insects are in a close distance, so you and your family are still in danger of infection.

Transported Diseases by Mosquitoes

Below are some of the most common mosquito diseases.

Dengue

Dengue is recognized by its rapid spread in recent decades as the largest mosquito-borne viral disease in the world. Much is growing through poor sanitation, and the wide range of suitable breeding grounds in poor urban areas of the tropics and subtropics.

The Aedes mosquito, known to be Dengue transmitters, however adapts well in the human environment and can breed in areas where better sanitation is available if methods of vector control are disregarded.

Malaria

The most fatal mosquito transported disease is malaria. In 2018, the WHO estimated that 91 countries had approximately 228 million malaria cases. In Sub-Saharan Africa, more than 90% of the cases occur and children under 5 suffer more than two thirds of their deaths.

Malaria is passed by the Anopheles species of the mosquito. The distinct ecology and behavior of each of the species of Anopheles makes malaria control a complex task compared to other diseases of the mosquito.

The Virus of Zika

The Zika outbreak happened in 2015. But it was first identified in 1947 as this mosquito-borne disease. It is spread to the bites of infected Aedes mosquitoes, but can also be passed to your fetus by an infected pregnant mother.

How to Prevent Mosquito Bites

There are a number of tips that you and your family can do to prevent mosquito activity in and around your home while you are enjoying sunshine in a sensitive manner during government lockouts.
