The best Ways to Get Rid of Rodent at Home

Rodent nests are covered with everything they can find: bits of paper shredding, fabric, cotton, insulation, etc. Rodents tend to make their nests in dark and quiet places tend walls and attics, and under or between buildings, where they won't get bothered. When you happen to encounter one, there is a good possibility that rodents may or may not have been living in your house.

Tracks or Rubbing Marks

If a nest has been created by the rodents in your house, chances are they have found food too. If you begin to find greasy or filthy stains on the floors or at the bottoms of the walls, they could be the product of contact with the oily fur of a rodent as it finds food.

Strange Noises

No one likes to hear strange noises in their homes, particularly at night, not in their walls. But if you have a rodent epidemic, you'll probably start hearing these noises as they fly between their nests and places where they sleep. Only a mice exterminator can help you.

Gnawing Marks

You might have a rodent problem if you find odd holes in bags or containers, or even in your plumbing. Rodents can chew through just about everything, even pipes, to find food and water. Often, they can even chew through wires in your walls, creating a fire hazard.

Droppings

Rodents also leave their faecal matter in places where they have found food, such as cabinets, kitchens, food containers, pantries, sinks, cardboard boxes and baseboards. When you find droppings, make sure they are not disturbed or washed without first putting on protective clothing, such as gloves and masks, as rodent droppings can bring illness.

There are several ways you can help keep the rodents out of your house.

  • Keep food in rodent-proof containers

  • Keep garbage in heavy-duty metal or plastic containers

  • Plug and caulk any outside holes that might lead inside

  • Keep tree limbs and shrubbery trimmed close to your house

  • Keep storage containers at least 18 inches off the floor and flush against the wall to discourage rodents from entering them or constructing nests around them

  • Use concrete flooring

Such methods can therefore present hazards to your household, particularly if you have young children. If your house already has rodent epidemic, call Mother Nature Pest and Lawn for rodent control in OKC.
